World Ballet Day LIVE – Ballet from all over the world – Watch LIVE
World Ballet Day returns on 29 October 2020 for an exciting global celebration, bringing the dance community together as it faces the challenges of the covid 19 pandemic.
World Ballet Day is a unique celebration of an art form that has many millions of dedicated followers the world over.
Started in 2014, it’s been going from strength to strength, and is about to take place for its seventh year, despite the devastating impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the sector.
Ballet has been deeply affected by the lockdown imposed in an attempt to control the spread of the deadly virus.
Imagine artists used to working with their bodies for a minimum of six hours a day of class and rehearsal, often topped off by a full evening performance, suddenly finding themselves cooped up in small flats, in what amounts to enforced immobility with no end in sight.
Imagine the effect on their bodies, not to mention their state of mind…
Now, of course, the relaxation of Covid restrictions means that dancers across the globe have been coming back to work – and they are raring to go!
World Ballet Day showcases the best of global dance and gives an opportunity for audiences to go behind the scenes of the world’s top ballet companies including The Australian Ballet, Bolshoi Ballet and The Royal Ballet.
Each company will be streaming live rehearsals and insights in accordance with their respective local covid guidance via their Facebook and YouTube pages as well as via Tencent video in China.
Last year’s World Ballet Day was the most successful year yet, with the event reaching 315 million social media users around the world.
On Thursday 29 October, join World Ballet Day 2020 on Facebook and YouTube to get a glance at life behind the scenes for leading dance companies
The Australian Ballet
Bolshoi Ballet
and The Royal Ballet.
